Crediting

You must always credit the person who wrote the work. This means that you should write their name next to the work that you are using.

For example, if you are using song lyrics that were composed by Lola Boyd on your website, you should write ‘Composed by Lola Boyd’ beneath the song lyrics.

It is also a good idea to acknowledge the copyright owner. If copyright in Lola Boyd’s song is owned by Downtown Publishing, and you have obtained permission from Downtown Publishing to use the lyrics, the credit might look like this:

‘Composed by Lola Boyd. Copied with permission of Downtown Publishing’.
