Copyright?

Ownership

Who owns copyright?

The person who creates a work will normally own copyright in it:

A copyright owner may agree to sell or give the copyright in a work to someone else. This would mean that the creator would no longer own copyright in the work, and the person who bought or was given the copyright would become the copyright owner.

A copyright owner may agree to sell or give someone else permission to copy their work. Sometimes the copyright owner will ask for payment in exchange for giving permission. Sometimes the copyright owner will give permission to use their work for free.
